Non-Alcoholic Paloma Mocktail

The ultimate recipe for a healthier, zero-proof Paloma mocktail

This iconic Mexican drink balances sweet, sour, and salty notes, and comes together in just a minute. Don’t skip the fresh-squeezed grapefruit as it’s the perfect season for ripe citrus fruits. To help keep you on track during Dry January, I recommend swapping out the booze with a non-alcoholic tequila replacement from Clean Co. Tequila, available on Amazon*. It offers a grassy agave flavor, slight oak aroma, and the peppery fire finish of tequila, and helps the traditional flavors of a paloma stay intact.

Working with Non-Alcoholic Product

Your recipes and ratios will often change when working with non-alcoholic products. The flavors are different, the intensity is different - it's just not exactly the same as alcohol, so you may need to tweak your favorite recipes when converting them with non-alcoholic products. The best bet is to taste and test, and adjust to your liking.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice

  • .75 oz fresh-squeezed lime juice

  • 1.5 oz non-alcoholic tequila, I like Clean Co Non-Alcoholic Tequila

  • 2 oz grapefruit-flavored soda

  • Tajin salt for rim

  • Garnish with grapefruit or lime slice

Instructions:

  • In a cocktail shaker, add grapefruit juice, lime juice, and non-alcoholic tequila.

  • Fill with ice and shake vigorously for 10 seconds.

  • Rub the rim of a glass with grapefruit wedge and dip in Tajin salt for a spicy rim. Regular salt works too if that’s what you have on hand.

  • Fill the glass with fresh ice.

  • Strain your ingredients into your glass and top off with soda.

  • Garnish with a grapefruit wedge and squeeze of fresh lime.

Happy clean drinking!
