A feisty, non-alcoholic margarita with all the flavor and none of the regret

I am a self-proclaimed margarita lover. But unfortunately, tequila and I had to breakup several years ago. Sigh. Much to my surprise, with this non-alcoholic margarita recipe I actually felt like I was drinking the real thing. The combination of fresh citrus, subtle sweetness, and the kick-in-your-pants fire makes it perfectly balanced, so much so that you (almost) won't notice the tequila is gone.

5 Tips for Non-Alcoholic Margaritas

  1. Make sure to use fresh limes instead of store-bought lime juice on this one. The brightness of the fresh citrus makes a huge difference in the recipe.

  2. I did cheat and use bottled orange juice instead of fresh-squeezing it. Everything in moderation I always say - I can fresh squeeze the lime but I had a bottle of OJ in the fridge for the kids, and it still tasted incredible.

  4. A spicy salt rim can make a huge difference in terms of flavor and a beautiful presentation. I use Tajin but you can also make a homemade one with salt, chili powder and a dash of smoked paprika.

  5. Jalapeño Syrup: you can make a homemade one with this recipe or muddle a few fresh jalapeños with your sweetener.

Ingredients:

  • 2.5 oz non-alcoholic tequila (this is my favorite one, save 15% off with code SoberishMom)

  • .5 oz orange juice

  • 1 oz soda

  • Optional garnishes: chili ice cubes, tajin rim, lime or jalapeño slices

Instructions:

  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine first four ingredients. Add Ice and shake.

  2. Take a fresh glass and coat the rim in lime juice. Dip in chili salt (if using) and add ice.

  3. Strain shaker mixture over ice and top with club soda to taste. 2. Sugar-
